We're a tin
company.
Vault Tin Co makes child-resistant metal packaging for cannabis brands in the United States. Six formats, eleven ways to close them, 70 certified sizes. No cartons, no pouches, no side business. Just tins.
What that
looks like.
Somebody sends us a product and a number. We work out which format takes it, which closure suits how often it gets opened, and what the artwork has to do to survive being pressed into shape. Then we make it. We're in Salt Lake City, and we hold stock in five warehouses around the country so a run you've committed to isn't sitting in your own building.
Why a tin.
A tin gets kept. People refill them, they use them for
something else entirely, and they leave them out on a counter instead of putting them in a
bin. That's unusual for packaging, and it's most of the reason we picked this one.
The rest of the reason is that steel takes print properly. It's tinplate at 0.23 mm, which
is steel with a thin coat of tin on it. Artwork goes onto flat sheet and the tin is shaped
afterwards, so the colour stays dense and there's no label edge to lift.

If a format is wrong for your product, you'll hear it from us before you order it.
Same for a size that costs more and does the same job. And if you ask what testing covers the exact size you're ordering, you'll get a straight answer, because that's the question worth putting to any supplier and hardly anybody asks it.
Every line is tested to 16 CFR 1700.20, and a pass covers one mechanism, at one size, in one material. Not a factory, and not a catalogue.
How it usually goes

Four steps, and the first two cost you nothing.
- You tell us what you're packing
The product, roughly how much of it, and how it needs to look on a shelf. If you already know the format you want, say so. If you don't, that's the normal place to start.
- We post samples
The formats that suit it, free. You fill them with the real thing and see what actually works, which beats anyone's opinion including ours. How much goes in depends on your product as much as on the tin, so we settle it by filling rather than by quoting a number.
- Artwork gets drawn for the shape
Wherever the metal stretches, the print stretches with it. Your designer gets a dieline mapped for that. If there's no designer on your side, we do it here and you keep the files.
- You approve a proof on metal
Printed on tinplate, not on paper, because they are not the same thing to look at. Nothing runs in volume until you've signed off on the real surface.

Who is Vault Tin Co?
Vault Tin Co makes child-resistant metal tins for cannabis brands and other regulated products in the United States. We work in six tin formats with eleven closure mechanisms between them, across 70 sizes, all tested to 16 CFR 1700.20. Tins are the only thing we make.
Where is Vault Tin Co based?
Salt Lake City, Utah. We also hold stock in five warehouses across the United States rather than in one, and which of them an order draws from is settled when it is placed. Samples and specifications are handled out of Salt Lake City.
What is the minimum order for custom printed tins?
5,000 units per size, on custom print. Stocked formats go lower. The minimum is per size rather than per order, so a brand can put one product in a tin without committing to a whole range at once.
Do you only make packaging for cannabis?
Cannabis is most of what we do, but the tins suit any product that needs a child-resistant pack: supplements, nicotine pouches, small medical devices. The closure does not know what is inside it. What matters is the size of the fill and how often somebody opens it.
Can you design the artwork, or do I need my own designer?
Either works. If you have a designer we send them a dieline for the size you pick, mapped for the way the metal stretches when the tin is formed. If you do not, we do that work here, and you get the files whether or not you order again.
